Help Relieve the Urge to Move With Requip Tablets
The First FDA-Approved Treatment for Moderate-to-Severe Primary Restless Legs Syndrome
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a neurologic movement disorder characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs, especially when at rest. [1] Discomfort is usually temporarily relieved by movement, but recurs at rest. RLS is common, affecting up to 10% of the US adult population in its mild, moderate, and severe forms. [2,3]

In May of 2005, the FDA approved Requip for the treatment of signs and symptoms of moderate-to-severe primary RLS.
Requip:
  • Is a dopamine agonist recommended as first-line treatment for moderate-to-severe primary RLS [4,5]
  • Is proven to reduce RLS symptom severity [6-8]
  • Shows symptom improvement after night 2, with the starting dose [6]
  • Shows continued improvement at week 12 [6-8]
  • Maintains long-term benefits at 9 months [9]

Requip is indicated for patients with moderate-to-severe primary RLS.

Requip has been associated with sedating effects, including somnolence, and the possibility of falling asleep while engaged in activities of daily living, including operation of a motor vehicle. Syncope or symptomatic hypotension may occur, particularly during initial treatment or dose titration. Impulse control symptoms, including pathological gambling and hypersexuality, have been reported in patients treated with dopaminergic agents, including ropinirole.
