REQUIP Is Effective Adjunct Therapy When Combined with L-dopa

REQUIP can be added to L-dopa therapy in patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease. This can lead to improved symptom control and decreased "wearing-off" in patients with Parkinson’s disease.8 Using REQUIP allows a reduction in L-dopa dose while maintaining symptom control.8

  • Adding REQUIP reduced L-dopa dose by 191 mg more than placebo (-242 mg/day [n=95] vs -51 mg/day [n=54], P<0.001)8

May help reduce or spare the need for additional L-dopa. 8

  • Adjunct therapy with REQUIP may reduce the need to add further L-dopa8
  • REQUIP as an adjunct to L-dopa allows for a gradual decrease in the concurrent L-dopa dose8

*Mean daily dose of L-dopa at baseline: 759 ± 422 mg (REQUIP + L-dopa) and 843 ± 517 mg (placebo + L-dopa).
†Includes those patients with reductions due to adverse events.
‡Data from a 6-month, double-blind, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of REQUIP as adjunct therapy with supplemental L-dopa in patients with PD (Hoehn & Yahr stage II-IV at baseline). The primary end point was a > 20% reduction in awake time spent
"off " and a > 20% reduction in total daily L-dopa dose between baseline and final visits.

Improve patients’ motor fluctuations with REQUIP as an adjunct to L-dopa. Adjunct therapy with REQUIP decreases "off" time.8

Adjunct therapy with REQUIP

  • Significantly reduces awake time spent "off"8
  • Helps reduce or spare the need for additional L-dopa8

§Data from a 6-month, double-blind, multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial of REQUIP as adjunct therapy with supplemental L-dopa in patients with Parkinson’s disease (Hoehn & Yahr stage II-IV at baseline). The primary end point was a >20% reduction in awake time spent "off " and a >20% reduction in total daily L-dopa dose between baseline and final visits. Excludes patients with reductions in L-dopa dose due to adverse events and excludes 1 ropinirole patient from the primary efficacy analysis.

PATIENT PROFILE - EDWARD
Age and Diagnosis
  • 65 years old
  • Edward’s primary care physician diagnosed him with Parkinson’s disease 4 years ago and prescribed L-dopa
  • Edward was referred to a neurologist for additional treatment
Symptoms
  • He has noticed end-of-dose "wearing off," with a worsening of symptoms during this time
Treatment
  • In addition to L-dopa, Edward’s neurologist prescribed REQUIP Tablets to help control his symptoms without increasing L-dopa dose

PATIENT PROFILE - DOROTHY
Age and Diagnosis
  • 72 years old
  • Dorothy’s primary care physician diagnosed her with Parkinson’s disease more than 7 years ago and prescribed L-dopa
  • Dorothy was referred to a neurologist for additional treatment
Symptoms
  • Over the last several years, she has been experiencing motor fluctuations that affect daily activities, such as walking and dressing
Treatment
  • In addition to L-dopa, Dorothy’s neurologist prescribed REQUIP Tablets to help reduce "off" time
