All medications designed to treat Parkinson’s disease have one goal: to improve the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease in a patient. Depending on the recommendations made by the patient’s doctor, the patient may need more than one medication to control his or her symptoms. Because Parkinson's disease is a progressive disease, ongoing monitoring of a patient's symptoms and medication(s) is important.
There are some medicines that help with tremor, some medicines that act like dopamine or help increase dopamine in the body, and some that keep dopamine around longer in the body.
Talk to your doctor about any questions you have about your treatment regimen.
